Open House after glow from Wednesday Apr 17, 2024
As an elementary principal, witnessing the Tijeras Creek Open House was truly heartening. Seeing students enthusiastically share their classrooms and projects with family and friends was a testament to their growth and pride in their work. It was a moment of celebration for our school community, showcasing the creativity, dedication, and talent of our young learners. Through their presentations, they not only demonstrated academic achievements but also cultivated important skills such as communication and collaboration. The atmosphere was filled with joy and camaraderie as families and friends engaged with the students' learning journey. It affirmed the importance of strong partnerships between home and school in nurturing well-rounded individuals. Overall, the Open House was a memorable event that highlighted the collective efforts and achievements of our school community.

Volunteer Breakfast this Wednesday 4/24/24 from 7:15-7:45
As a sign of appreciation for all the support we receive from the volunteers over the year, the teachers and staff would like to invite all volunteers to come to Makerspace on Wednesday from 7:15-7:45 to experience a breakfast from the teachers.  Please RSVP on the QR code that is located further down this newsletter.
Volunteering at school is like adding puzzle pieces to complete a picture. Each piece, no matter how small, helps make the picture whole. Your help, even for a little while, can make a big difference in how smoothly things run and how happy everyone feels. It shows that you care about your school and want to make it a better place for everyone. Plus, when people work together, amazing things can happen! So, every bit of help you give, no matter how tiny it may seem, truly matters.
VOLUNTEER BREAKFAST 4/24:  Volunteers, if you have not already done so, please quicklyRSVP here to the TC Volunteer Breakfast on Wed. April 24th at 7:15 in the Makers Space. We cannot wait to celebrate you- we appreciate all you do for our classroom and school community!

Volunteers don’t get paid, not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless.

 Independent Study Contract
Don’t forget if you are going to have your child absent for 3 or more days, to request an Independent Study Contract from Ms. Heidi in the front office. If your child completes all the school work, they will receive credit for their absence. Click Tijeras Creek Elementary School - Attendance Procedures  or see below for more details.
If a student will be away from the classroom for at least 3 days, an Independent Study Contract can be arranged through the front office. This contract provides students with lessons/activities to complete while away from the classroom so they do not fall behind in their studies.
To request an Independent Study Contract, the following procedures are necessary:
  •         A telephone call, email, or note from the parent must be received at least 5 days (exceptions are considered, but not guaranteed) prior to the student’s first day away from the classroom.
  •         The student must be gone for a minimum of 3 school days, but no more than 10 school days per contract.  A student may utilize up to 14 days per school year.
  •         The first school day after the ending date of the Independent Study Contract, the student/parent must turn in all homework to the teacher. This is for auditing purposes by the state.
If these procedures are not followed, the contract becomes invalid.
Please contact our  Attendance Clerk at (949) 234-5300 to arrange an Independent Study Contract.
