Message from the Principal:

Farewell to School Year 2023-2024
We reached the last day of the 2023-2024 school year.  We have said our goodbyes to  Ms. Cassie, Mrs. McCarthy, Miss. Koper, and Ms. Lyndsey.  The Fifth graders had a great last day of celebration with a clap out, breakfast, talent show and a slideshow presentation.   The campus will be open to the public from 5/31- 6/3 from 8:00AM-3:00 PM.  We will open back up on July 29 from 8:00 to noon and then 8/2-8/19 from 8:00-3:00.  There is a lunch break for the staff from 12:00-1:00.    We will now  begin preparing for the 2024-2025 school year.  We have new staff members that will begin this next  school year.

Diana Yi ( Office Manager)-  Diana has worked in the district for 10 years and is very knowledgeable in the duties of an office manager.  Ms. Cassie has been working with her to create the smoothest transition possible.  She will begin work at Tijeras Creek July 25th.  Please welcome her in Tijeras Creek style.

Brooke Powell ( 5th grade teacher)-Ms. Powell comes to Tijeras Creek this year.  She has both elementary and middle school experience.  She has been in the district for 15 years and provides good experience in the area of PLCs and will be an excellent resource for our students.

Enjoy your summer break and spend time with family and friends.  Take time to rest, recharge, and refresh your life.  We have all worked so hard this year and breaks are needed for replenishment and regaining strength.  Have a wonderful summer and I will see you back on
campus on August 20,2024 at 7:45 AM.

Feel like your students are still playing catch-up?
Get ahead of next year’s curriculum with The EDGE, an academic-focused program geared toward Middle and High School students looking for remediation and/or acceleration in Math and Language Arts. The EDGE is offered in partnership with Capistrano Unified School District to closely align and support the Core Curriculum taught during the school year at Middle and High Schools and equips students with the essential confidence and skills to achieve their full potential inside the classroom.
What do you need to know?
-  This is a targeted curriculum developed by CUSD teachers. Unlike the typical one-size-fits-all programs, The EDGE is custom designed specifically with CUSD Core Curriculum in mind.

-  The curriculum, as engaging as it is rigorous, addresses the critical concepts and skills needed for academic success on day 1 in the classroom for both Math and Language Arts.

-  Students participating in The EDGE will build their confidence significantly and in turn show decreased anxiety when faced with academic expectations of the next grade level.

-  No grades and no homework!

What will the classes include?
In small, focused classes on the Saddleback College campus, instructors will empower students through engaging group and independent activities, academic rigor, and creative lessons. Instructors will present specifically targeted lessons designed for academic achievement and confidence building in the classroom.

Camp Invention® is coming to Capistrano Unified School District!
In partnership with the National Inventors Hall of Fame® (NIHF), Capistrano Unified School District is excited to offer the nationally acclaimed Camp Invention® program to children entering K through 6th grade. This inspiring, weeklong summer experience provides opportunities for open-ended, hands-on exploration of science, technology, engineering and more! Taking on a variety of exhilarating activities each day, children have fun collaborating with friends, thinking creatively and inventing their own solutions to real-world challenges.
