School Site Council Applicants Needed
We are in the process of putting together a school site council. This council is an advisory committee that addresses needs within the school. It is made up of 5 parents, 3 teachers, myself and a classified staff member. I will be sending out a nomination form if you are interested in the position. It is a two year position. The need that will be our chief focus will be to improve school attendance. We are currently on a state list for absenteeism in the areas of Socio-Economically Disadvantaged (SED) and Special Education (SPED). Our goal is to improve our attendance. The council would help in providing a plan to do this. If you are interested in being on this council please feel free to reach out to me. I will have nomination forms and further information on the election process later this next week.
Brag Tags are in
I went into each classroom this week and talked about our I-Ready math incentive which includes a necklace and brag tags. See below the criteria for these brag tags.
- 30-45 minutes a week on My Path Passing of at least two lessons.
- Perfect attendance for a month and the students will be receiving a brag tag
- First round of these tags should be going out by 3/31/2023
STEM Class
The second STEM class occurred this week. Students were designing key rings, creating pathways for Spheros, using code-go mice to program following an obstacle course and designing a track that allows Hot Wheels cars to travel the greatest distance on a track. We have more fun activities scheduled for next week. We will be having an egg drop and more next week. Stay tuned.

Let’s have a great week!

Parent Resources for Pre-Adolescent and Adolescent Development Support
Welcome toCUSD’s Pre-Adolescent/Adolescent Development Support Website. It is a resource for you, the parent of a 4th-8th grade child. It is designed to help educate parents on what to expect as your child navigates pre-adolescence and adolescence. The main goal is to help you understand what you need to know about hygiene, puberty, menstruation, and familial communication to help ensure that you feel confident when communicating with your child regarding these subjects. Biological, as well as social-emotional issues will be the main focus. This website is full of resources to assist you in navigating this journey with your child. Enjoy exploring! Clickhere to access the website.

CUSD Classified Employment Opportunities
There are many classified career opportunities available in CUSD, if you or someone you know is looking for employment, please let them know. There are also sub opportunities for parents should you choose to help out in open positions until they are filled, see Cassie Pinon in the front office for more information.
Recycling
Don’t forget to bring in your recycling! We are having classroom contests for the “most recycling” winners. We can ONLY accept CA CRV aluminum cans and plastic bottles. Please NO glass or trash recycling. Let your child's teacher know the amount that you are turning in so they can track it. And please use white or clear trash bags.
Arrival and Dismissal
The expectation is that we arrive ready for school and in line on the blacktop by 7:45. We have supervision that begins at 7:30. Coming after 7:45, makes the students late and they can miss out on valuable instruction. Please do your best to be on time.
At pick up, we want to make sure that we are not parking in the street so as not to block the cars coming into the parking lot. It helps with the flow of traffic. Thank you for your cooperation.
